Hooray! I am ecstatic the Snow Birds begin returning to their roosting. Traffic on US 41 is intensifying, prices in the grocery stores are inflating, waits at restaurants are mushrooming, and traffic accidents are escalating. The Snow Bird population is proliferating; the quiet in the region is evaporating, until hurricane season begins re-activating.
Road adventures are commencing as year round residents become reacquainted with the following obstacles; drivers going through red lights and stop signs, moseying along twenty miles below the speed limit, signaling to turn right and then go left, leaving directional on until April, and stopping in the middle of US 41. Then there are the massive traffic jams, multiple injuries, and deaths, which cause looong delays.
The beach turns into the international zone with foreign language filling the air. Walking and bicycling is the mode of transporting with motorist crawling along in order to avoid colliding. They stake out their spot on the beach before the sun rises and guard it like a bear her cubs. The bodies line the beach making it impossible to walk unless you are knee deep in the water. Oops, almost forgot the two-hour wait in traffic to go the last mile to the beach.
I love this time of year as it brings excitement to my dull life.
