I hug everyone, especially my male friends, as it is my way of showing affection and friendship. I am short and weighs 145 pounds, while the brutes I associate with are taller, possess wider girth making it difficult to get my puny arms all the way around them. Thankfully, they hug with restraint enabling me to continue breathing.
Hugging is good for the spirit and over all wellbeing of individuals.
People hug when greeting someone, convey friendship, when departing, and elicits the following emotions – elation, relief, sadness, loss, happiness, and love.
Men and women view hugging differently, and practice it according to their feelings, and the norms of society.
Women express affection easier than men, and hug their girlfriends with long numerous hugs and great emotion.
Men are less inclined to hug, designate certain times and situations when it is appropriate because of the vague sexual gesture implied. Males use quickie hugs accompanied by a few gentle taps on the back except when celebrating a sports victory, then prolonging the hug with back pounding.
Family members hug long, numerous times, unless there is a conflict or crisis, promoting hugging for dear life accompanied by crying.
Lovers hug the longest; possess cuddling the intimate form of hugging, and often employ the added bonus called spooning.
Strangers hug only at formal affairs like weddings or funerals.
Some are uncomfortable hugging and miss out in the gift of unity with another.
I encourages everyone to hug, as the brief physical contact conveys a unity that is impossible any other way.
